Chhattisgarh is an intensely forested state in central India is known for its sanctuaries and waterfalls. the present capital is Raipur, the town of Sirpur on the Mahanadi Waterway is home to the red-block Lakshmana Sanctuary, enriched with carvings from Indian folklore. In the south, the city of Jagdalpur has the Sanjay Market on Sundays, a bargaining place for nearby clans. The tremendous Chitrakoot Falls lie to the northwest.
The state is limited by the Indian provinces of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand toward the north and upper east, Odisha (Orissa) toward the east, Telangana (some time ago a piece of Andhra Pradesh) toward the south, and Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh toward the west.

History of Chhattisgarh:
Chhattisgarh
was under Maratha rules from 1741 to 1845 AD.
The area constituting the new state merged into Madhya Pradesh on 1 November 1956,
under the reorganization act.
The state was formed on 1 November 2000 by partitioning ten Chhattisgarh and six
Gondi speaking southeastern part of Madhya Pradesh.

forest area in the State is 59,772km², which is 44.21% of the geographical
